Spruce Up Your Feet

Return to Basics with an At Home Pedicure

Does the bottom of your feet feel and look like sandpaper?

Now is the perfect time to get those feet out and spruced up for those strappy, glamorous sandals of summer. The care for feet nails should be no different than the ones at the end of your fingers. Give yourself a pedicure at home and luxuriate in these homemade recipes to get your feet and toes in tip-top condition.

So give your feet a treat with the simple and inexpensive ways for a proper at home pedicure.

Instructions
Step 1
Remove Old Polish

To remove old nail polish completely use cotton balls soaked in acetine nail polish remover. If the color is not coming off right away, place the cotton ball on the nail for an additional few seconds.

Step 2
Trim

Use high quality toenail clipplers and cut your nails straight across, leaving abouy an 1/8th inch of length. Do not let your nails extend over the tip of your toes.

Step 3
File

For a soft square shape, file the nails around the corners in one direction. Use only emery boards and not metal files.

The metal ones can rip nails easily.

Step 4
Soak

Place your feet in a large flat bottom bowl or one that is made specifically for feet.  Add warm water, bath salts, aromatherapy oils of Epsom salt. Let you feet soak for at least 10 minutes. If you have a pedicure bowl that vibrates, more the better. It is your moment to let your feet have their day of relaxation.

The more calloused your feet, the longer your soak should be.

Step 5
Cuticle Push

Apply cuticle oil to the base of each nail while rubbing in. Wait a minute and then use an orange stick to slowly push back the skin to where it meets the nail.

Step 6
Exfoliate

The balls and heels of your feet  should be addressed next with a pumice stone or foot file. The idea is to smooth the are and not remove skin. If you are too rough, the outcome will be sore feet.

Step 7
Moisturize

Throughly dry your feet and between the toes. Apply a nourishing foot cream all over the foot and ankles while adding more cuticle oil to the toes.

Step 8
Finishing Touches

Using an acetone nail polisher remover once more, ap0ply to the nails to get rid of the oil residue. Insert foot pads that separate the toes or a cheap alternative is paper towels that are rolled up and wrapped around each toe.

Apply a thin cost of base amd allow to dry. The chose a color polish and place two coats. Finally add your top coat and get ready to push your best foot forward in your summer sandals.

Your feet will look great this summer with a good looking pedicure
