How to exfoliate with baking soda

Exfoliating with baking soda leaves your skin refreshingly clean

Baking soda is one of the essentials in all kitchen cupboards. Not many people realize the benefits of using baking soda for exfoliation. Instead of using products that contain chemicals, baking soda is one of the best ways of removing the dead skin cells that can clog your pores and cause acne and unsightly blemishes. It is naturally abrasive and will gently clean your skin giving you a refreshing feeling in addition to genuine softness.

Instructions
Step 1
Combine baking soda and water

Mix up a paste of 5 tsp. of baking soda with 2 tbsp. of water. The paste you make will be very thick.

If you know that you have sensitive skin and this is your first time using baking soda for exfoliation, start off with smaller amounts of baking soda so that you have a thinner paste. In this way you will be able to determine what effect the baking soda does have on your face.

Step 2
Appying the baking soda paste

Brush all your hair away from your face and hold it back with clips or a headband.

Moisten your face with a damp facecloth.

Start the application process on your forehead. Dip your fingers into the paste and gently massage it into your skin using circular motions. Repeat this until you have all of your face covered spending about a minute on each part of your face.

Step 3
Rinse off the baking soda paste

Rinse off the baking soda paste by first splashing warm water on your face. Then use a dampened facecloth to remove any residue that still remains. Use a soft towel to pat your face dry.

Step 4
Use a skin moisturizer

Complete the process by applying your usual skin moisturizer to your face before you start putting on your makeup.

Exfoliate with baking soda

This tutorial will show you how to exfoliate using only baking soda and water. Since this only exfoliates, be sure to use your normal cleansing and moisturizing routine after. I prefer this method over some drugstore products since it feels more gentle on my skin. I do this twice a week.
